It doesn't even seem real to finally have Will back... It's been a long wait and we're so happy to finally be reunited in America!!! Will arrived on February 8th, just in time for his birthday on the ninth.
As far as the specific visa process, it was extremely long and frustrating. We've had a lot of hiccups along the way these past two years so it's nice to be able to finally breathe normal, now that he's here. It took two years to get his visa, with the entire second year spent waiting for a 20 minute interview. For now, he has a three year visa which allows him to work and live in America. We're waiting for his green card and if all goes well, will recieve it within the next few months. We're unsure how long the visa will be... Potentially just three years, but we're hoping for longer so that we won't have to start the visa renewal process so soon. My hope is that whoever is elected in the fall will care more about the international community who dream of American life and don't make them jump through so many useless hoops, especially when family members are involved. We'll eventually know soon what next steps will look like and what our time-frame is for how long he'll be able to stay in America.
As far as life the past 2 weeks, we're very happy to finally be settling in. We haven't lived in our own place since last May, so it's so nice finally being together in our own space. We're living in an AirBNB for a little while, as we try to get the details of our life laid out. (Job searching, seeing where we want to live in Denver, buying furniture and house items, etc). We've been busy with job interviews, finding our church family, and even got to spend time with a couple from Lyon! Great things are happening for us and we're very excited for what God has in store for us here.
More to come as we continue settling in and making life decisions... For now we're enjoying the time together (and with Joey) and are heading on our first Colorado hike tomorrow!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everyone who has encouraged us, checked in, and most importantly, prayed for us through this journey. It was an extremely tough 8 months apart, but God was faithful and used this for so much growth.
