On Sunday, we moved into our first French apartment! We had been waiting to get back to a more normal life in our own place and are so excited about the apartment God led us to. We looked at 10 different apartments, and finally chose our home! (It was a very exhausting process) Check out the details: LocationI think the location is my favorite part of the apartment. We are RIGHT in the city with lots of excitement everywhere. Although I grew up in the country, I definitely LOVE being in the city and am so excited to actually live right in it. I'm just a 5 minute walk to the Subway station, & can get to the movie theater, mall, both rivers, and many restaurants & stores, just by walking a few minutes. There is lots of excitement right outside our street and many opportunities for me while i'm by myself during the day. Lots of little shops, parks, coffee shops, river walks, etc. Will & I have already enjoyed two evenings out near our apartment to explore the area and see what is around. FoodI have been MISSING Mexican food and have found it pretty hard to cook Mexican dishes here in France. But right down the street from our apartment is a Mexican Restaurant!! (They are hard to find.) We tried it out this week and the burritos were delicious! We've seriously missed Chipotle so this was a good fix! I also had my first try at French Ice Cream - Very good! Apartment PicturesThe owner is a man that Will has been working with for the past three months, so it has worked out really well that he has been flexible and willing to help us. We also got to skip all the normal paperwork and difficult process you typically face when getting a new apartment. Apartment StructureThe apartment is very unique (in a good way), but does need a lot of work. I'll be posting pictures soon, but here's a little sneak peak of what's to come. The original painting is dreadful, so next week i'll be giving it a total make-over. I'm pretty excited about it! There is also an IKEA in Lyon so I'm sure we'll be making several trips there. ;) ThankfulAfter spending many hours and weeks researching online and visiting apartments, we are so thankful to have finally chosen our new home. After being here a week, I see how this apartment has been the perfect fit for what Will and I needed for our first home here. I'm so grateful to everyone who donated money and bought items from my mom and I, because in just a few short weeks, I will have so many special items from our Cincinnati home, to make it feel even more like home here. (Wedding gifts, books, decorations, kitchen items, blankets, pictures, etc.) We continue to take steps to get closer to a more normal life here. This was a HUGE one. The next big thing is learning French so that I can be more independent and begin to do the normal things I am used to. (Grocery shopping, shopping in general, completing paperwork, calling the doctor, etc.) Here are some pictures of a few cool places near our apartment: Thank you for those who continue to pray for us and this crazy adventure we are on. It has not been an easy one, but God has continued to be faithful, as He always is.
