I'm extremely delayed in getting this blog post out but in May, Will and I spent my birthday weekend in Spain. We stayed in Roses Spain for a few days and spent a day in a nearby city called Girona. Both were incredibly beautiful and I was so excited to experience the Spanish culture!
After spending a few days in Roses Spain, Will and I wanted to see what a Spanish city looked like and wanted to experience more of the culture. Since Barcelona was a little too far, we googled nearby cities and came across Girona. We LOVED it! Such a beautiful old city located in the northeastern Catalonia region. The colors were amazing, the decorations were incredible, the bridges were super cool, and the city was very medieval. Fun fact: Some "Game of Thrones" episodes have been filmed here.
There were lots of protests, signs, and media in the city since it was just before they were voting to separate from Spain.
I'm not sure which I loved more, the colorful buildings and streets or the giant medieval wall around the city. I felt like I was on the great wall of China. (On a much smaller scale) The city wall goes across the eastern border of the city and the views from above were amazing!
We had a wonderful time enjoying the beach life in Roses and also exploring the shops, restaurants, and neighborhoods nearby.
We walked around 9 miles, exploring along the ocean.
We stayed just a few blocks from the ocean, so it was a nice walk every morning! And really nice not having to mess with the car.
