I've heard dozens of Will's stories about his childhood and was finally able to put images with all the places he has told me about. We stopped by his hometown of Besançon, which is a few hours north of Lyon and near the border of Switzerland. We drove by the small town he grew up in, saw the hospital he was born in, the home his parents built, his kindergarden and elementary schools, and all the bike paths and play areas he used to go with his brother.
At the top of the city is a giant wall that goes along the entire hill. At the top there is a museum and zoo overlooking the whole city.
We walked instead of driving up the hill, and regretted it once we saw how many steps there were to climb!
I loved seeing the place where Will was raised and learning more about another French city. :)
Strasbourg France - "The Capital of Christmas"
There's no better place to be at Christmas time than at the "Capital of Christmas". I've dreamed of visiting the Alsace region of France for a long time, and I'm so happy we decided to go at Christmas time. The streets were magically at night with the decorations and lights. Strasbourg also has one of the largest and best Christmas markets in Europe. We had a wonderful time exploring the small city and checking out all the small booths and Christmas treats. It was magical!
