I haven't really shared much about the city or where we are actually living, so I wanted to include lots of pictures and details in today's post. Hope you enjoy!
Lyon is located in east-central France in the Rhone-Alpes region and sits between Paris and Marseille. It is the 3rd largest city in France and has a population of around 500,000 people. (2,300,000 in the metropolitan area.) The people in Lyon call themselves "Lyonnais." The city is known as the capital of gastronomy in France and around the world. Gastronomy: The practice or art of choosing, cooking, and eating good food.
In the old part of the city (Place Bellecour) there is a giant open area with a statue, a huge ferris wheel, and lots of benches for sitting. From there you can take many different streets for shopping, eating, and entertainment. Each street is decorated with many amazing colors, lights, and other decor.
Charly France is the town where Will's parents live. It is located south of the city and it is pretty easy to get back and forth using the bus and/or subway. It takes about 15 minutes to get downtown. It is a small town and a lot of the side roads are only big enough to fit one car at a time. Usually the roads are surrounded by huge walls and most of the houses are connected with many others.
In my down time at the house, I have enjoyed going through the Masse family photo albums. Here are a few of my favorites of Will. Blond, skinny, french bread-loving, and silly... Some things never change. :)
